The Spain edition of the Media Capture Monitoring Report 2025 is now available. The report examines Spain’s level of compliance with the European Media Freedom Act and assesses how the country is addressing the risks of media capture. This publication is part of the global series of Media Capture Monitoring Reports produced by the International Press Institute (IPI) together with the Media and Journalism Research Center (MJRC). It represents the first country-specific edition for Spain, focusing on how different forms of political, economic and regulatory interference are affecting the independent functioning of the media within the European Union.
The Spanish edition of the report was prepared by Novos Medios researchers Marta Rodríguez Castro, Martín Vaz Álvarez, Tania Fernández Lombao, and César Fieiras Ceide.
