Objectives
The general objective of NEXTDIGIMEDIA is to carry out a detailed and systematic analysis of the adoption processes of AI in digital media, in order to understand its journalistic, economic and social implications, and to propose plausible future scenarios.
The project continues the line of research pursued by the Infotendencias group, which has carried out a series of research projects on digital journalism focusing on news uses and preferences in the new Spanish media landscape, innovation, digital convergence and analysis of digital native media.
The specific objectives of NEXTDIGIMEDIA to be developed by the USC are divided into two blocks:
Implications and effects of AI implementation in journalism.
- Evaluate the evolution of strategies and formats in digital media under the influence of AI.
- Analyze the effects of AI on news content production, distribution, and professional activities.
- Analyze the effects of AI on audiences from a journalistic perspective.
Examine the role of the media in democratic systems
- Characterize the collective discourse on media, journalists and AI.
- Analyze the praxis in the participation of digital media audiences.
- Evaluate the perception of journalism’s role in democracy in the context of AI.
- Design models of user intervention in digital media through the labeling of resources using big data and the production of counter-frames.
