Researcher Emiliano Treré, a leading expert in digital activism and algorithmic resistance, joins the Novos Medios research group with a grant from the ATRAE programme, funded by Spain’s State Research Agency (AEI) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, endowed with one million euros. Treré, who has worked at leading European and American universities over the past two decades, will lead the research line on new algorithms at Novos Medios. His project DataECO, hosted at the Faculty of Communication Sciences and IDEGA, will address urgent global issues such as the intersections between digital technologies, activism, media ecologies, mass tourism, and the environmental challenges of technology.
