On 25 May, the Novos Medios research group organised a seminar focused on the management and analysis of large volumes of data in the field of Communication research, an issue of growing relevance in the current digital ecosystem. The session was delivered by Carlos Arcila Calderón, Professor at the University of Salamanca (USAL) and member of the Audiovisual Content Observatory (OCA), who shared his expertise and insights on digital methodologies and data mining applied to the study of communication phenomena.
Under the title Techniques for managing large-scale data in communication research, the seminar addressed a range of strategies, tools and approaches for large-scale data analysis, with particular attention to their applications in the field of Communication studies.
The event, held in the Doctoral Room of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Santiago de Compostela, provided an opportunity to explore in depth the challenges and opportunities posed by the use of large datasets in academic research, offering an up-to-date perspective on their impact within the field of Communication.
